We hope you enjoyed the Winter Break and are looking forward to getting in gear for the 2012 Winter/Spring cycle.

Please join us Monday, January 9th at 6:00 pm for our monthly PTO meeting. We will start our meeting by hearing a short though well informed presentation by D.J. Cordes, financial advisor from Edward Jones Investment company. Mr. Cordes will be providing information and answering questions about saving for your child’s college education and available financial vehicles to reach your goals.

This meeting will be a great time to gather and discuss upcoming Winter and Spring Events including our Festival of Nations 2012! If you would like to be involved for this we would invite you to come and show your support, what a great way to earn volunteer hours.

It’s that time of year again. The 2012-2013 Fall Application Process is upon us and there will be a Kick Off event tonight at IT Creswell from 5-7 pm. Here is a pdf from MNPS that will give you all the information you need: SCHOOL OPTIONS PRESENTATION

We have IMPORTANT news for Stanford students! We, in conjunction with Hull-Jackson, have the opportunity for a Montessori pathway school through 8th grade! This option is open to current 4th grade students and also to 5th grade students who attended Stanford or Hull-Jackson last year. In order for the program to be established we need a minimum of 45 commitments for the 2012-2013 school year. A pathway form will be sent home in your child’s backpack, which must be returned by the deadline. To read the letter from MNPS click here.

Preschool through 3rd grade students, who wish to STAY at Stanford, do not need to do anything at this time. A continuation form will be sent home in January where you can indicate your preference to attend Stanford in 2012-2013.

Students who are in 4th grade and PS-3rd grade students who wish to apply to a DIFFERENT school will need to complete the application process at this time. Please visit www.mnps.org for more information or to apply online. Paper and online applications must be received by December 2, 2011.

Did you know that Stanford is starting a new fitness program?  We are excited to tell you about this new PTO sponsored program and would love for all of our Teachers, Staff, Parents, Students, Family, and Friends to join us. This program comes right in time to beat some of that holiday bulge! Please join many like minded Stanford friends and set the example for other schools. Our intention is to help teach everyone how to live a healthy and active lifestyle. We have lots of events planned to stay active and learn about good health. The following is a list of our November events.
November 7, 2011 Kickoff for Stanford’s Active Phitness.
Ribbon cutting for our new basketball course. 6 pm
  • Mr Resha will throw the first hoop.
  • Then we will have a basketball hoops contest for the kids.
  • PTO meeting will start at 6:30.
  • The kids will have a flash dance in the gym.
  • Parents can join in after the PTO meeting for a hula hoop contest.
  • November 8, 2011 Tuesday evening walking group will start.
All Tuesday evening walking groups will meet at the Greenway
in front of Kohls @ 4:30 pm.
  • November 10, 2011 Friday morning walking group will start.
Friday morning walking groups will meet in front of the school at
8:00 am
  • November 13, 2011 Our school will join the Mayor in a 5k walk or run
  • We will meet outside the Metro courthouse @ the public
  • Square at 1:30. Please wear your Stanford Shirts to show your
  • school spirit. If you would like to walk or run in this event please
  • email us and let us know how many people will be joining us.
  • November 15, 2011 Tuesday evening walking group.
  • November 18, 2011 Friday morning walking group.
  • November 19, 2011 Hiking trip at Radnor lake.
  • Meet at 10:00 am at the east parking lot for some hiking
  • at Radnor Lake.
  • November 22, 2011 Tuesday evening walking group.

  • Also, November is National Diabetes Awareness Month.

Hear ye, hear ye!! Dear Stanford Families and Friends!

The BIG DAY is almost here!!  Come one and all to our Fall Festival this Saturday (October 8th).  Just for you, we ordered up a beautiful fall day and it looks like our order will be delivered as requested.  It will be fun for the whole family and you will not want to miss it!!

Please be aware of parking on Saturday as the Methodist church across the street has notified us that a church member has passed away and the services will be this Saturday from 10-1.  Please respect the solemnity of this occurrence and continue to be good neighbors.
