As a PTO, we have been working to build a cookbook with your delicious parent/teacher lunch, holiday, and bake sale recipes. We are coming right along, but we need your recipes! As the holidays approach and you are cooking one of your family favorites, don’t forget to email the recipe to Amy Cole at Stanfordmontessoripto@yahoo.com. Please remember to include your name. You can log in 1 volunteer hour for each recipe. Easy as Apple Pie!

Outdoor Classroom Garden Space

Posted: October 24th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: School Needs, Volunteers | No Comments »

Join Stanford Parents and Teachers building an Outdoor Classroom Garden Space!

When: Saturday, Oct. 29th

Time: 9am – 3pm. starbucks is providing coffee for the morning helpers! Though you may come and go as you are available, any and all help is appreciated.

What to bring: work gloves, apron, water bottles, any of the following that you have: hammer, tape measure, garden/cement rake, shovels, cordless drill, or other small gardening tools

Further details: This space is the result of many teachers desire to have an easy to maintain, educational, student-centered garden space. Home Depot has partnered with us and has provided not only the $2,600 grant to fund construction but also a volunteer crew of 20-30 people to come out and function as team leaders on construction day! Garden features include: 18 raised beds to host a variety of plant life, 4 dwarf fruit bearing trees, 6 small benches, a work table for teachers and students to utilize, a double compost bin, a rock garden to host desert climate plants for regional study, and a central shallow water plant feature. Highlights of the garden also include wheelchair accessibility, markers for plant life which provide quick and easy teaching notes for our teachers, plant life which provide a broad range of skill level activities for students, and the use of entirely organic gardening methods. We are very excited about this, our first project with our Home Depot partners, and hope that many of you will come out to participate in this wonderful new beginning!

Moms & Dads, this is a fun way to earn your volunteer hours + get to know some other parents as you work along side of them.

The more help we have, the quicker the job gets done!

Hello Stanford Family and Friends!

I can’t beleive we are almost at the beginning of school! There are a couple of events coming up that I would like to share with you.

This Saturday, August 6th from 9-11 a.m. is Stanford Grounds Clean Up Day
If you have a little time that morning, we would really appreciate your help getting our lawn and sign ready for the first day of school.  Just 30 minutes pulling weeds would be a tremendous help.  And, remember, if we all do a little, no one has to do a lot!

Tuesday, August 9th is Welcome Night
6:00 for Primary Students and 6:30 p.m. for Elementary Students

Please take a moment to come by the school that evening to briefly greet teachers, drop off supplies, visit the tables in the gym, purchase “spirit” wear, etc, etc.

August 11th is Boo Hoo/Yahoo
This is the first moring of school!  After you drop your child off, stop in the gym for some light breakfast fare and either “wipe a tear away” or shout “yahoo” as we begin our fresh start to a new year! PTO committee members will be available to answer questions you might have.

I look forward to this new year, the exciting PTO events we have planned and serving has your PTO President!

Cordially,
Amy Cole

Notes from the PTO

Hello Friends!

There are just a few quick things I need to mention.
Attached are two documents.

This one is a “Save the Date” for a new and exciting fall event we have planned.  This event is for the whole family and is going to be tons of fun!!  Please put it on your calendar and plan to attend–the kids are going to love it!

The other document is our Fly Over/Fly Away (FOFA) volunteer sign up sheet.  We are still in need of a few more volunteers for this event.  Would you please pick an hour or so that you may be willing to help out?  You can contact Lisa Marasco at utgrits@yahoo.com or responds to this email. Either way will work.

Cookbook Recipes Needed!!
Lastly, we are still short recipes for our cookbook!!  During teacher appreciation luncheons the teachers RAVE about all the wonderful Stanford cooks that we have.  I know this is a busy time of year, but would you please send in your recipes prior to school ending?  We are short many recipes.  They will count towards your volunteer hours, because for each typed recipes that is emailed adds up to 1 volunteer hour.  Five recipes would be FIVE hours!!!!

Thank you for all you do to make our school so GREAT!!
Amy Cole
