Fall into Events at Stanford

Posted: September 8th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Events, Fundraisers | No Comments »

Hello Families and Friends of Stanford!

I have a couple of things I want to remind you about that I think you will be interested in.

* Stanford’s Book Fair is currently going on at school! Grandparent’s Day yesterday was awesome and tonight, Thursday, Sept. 8th, is Family Night from 5:30-8:00. Hot dogs, chips and a drink for $1!! There will also be desserts sold for $1 each. Bring the whole family, invite aunts and uncles, everyone is welcome! While you’re there make sure to check out your teacher’s classroom wish list for books when you visit. The Book Fair is how the PTO supports the Library and our children’s literacy, so please take time to attend this event.

*Perks for Parents and our monthly PTO meeting is Monday, Sept. 12 at 6:00 p.m. Come to this social event to learn about Stanford and the PTO. You might be surprised at the tidbits of information you can pick up that will help you and your child!

*Saturday Sept., 17th from 9-12 is a Grounds Clean Up Day. Please come by for an hour or so to help us weed and clean the grounds. The grounds are what your children see and play on everyday and we want it to be pleasing for them!

Mark you calendars because the Fall Fest is less than a month away, Saturday, October 8th. Bring the whole family to enjoy this event!

As always, THANK YOU for your support of Stanford!
Amy Cole
PTO President

Open House > Tuesday, Aug. 30

Posted: August 25th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Events | No Comments »

Dear Parents,

We are off to a roaring start. It has been a good, calm beginning of the year for our staff, I hope it has been so for your family, too.

I know that you may have many questions for your child’s teacher if he/she is new to you this year. We will be having an Open House next Tuesday, August 30th. Our Schedule is the following:

6:00-6:30: Parents of Primary Children will go to their child’s room for a classroom orientation. At 6:30 you will leave and go to the library for an orientation from the specials teachers.

6:00-6:30: Parents of Elementary Students will attend the specials orientation first and then at 6:30 they will go to their child’s room for orientation from his/her teacher.

We will have a child care available of you must bring your child. However, we can only provide care for students who are Stanford students. Please do not take your child to the room with you. Children distract others when they are listening, and in a Montessori classroom children should not take materials off the shelf unless they have been given a lesson.

We have may procedures and policies that you may need further information on. This is a time to hear your child’s teacher’s expectations and be able to ask questions.

Many of my teachers are parents of young children, too. We want to be respectful of their time so we will stick closely to the schedule.

Respectfully,

Melva Stricklin

To request an accommodation please contact Melva Stricklin: 885-8822. Interpreters for the deaf or hard of hearing must be requested 24 hours prior to the event.

Uniform Swap > Friday, Sept. 2

You don’t have to donate to take and you are welcome to donate anytime – come check it out! We have lots of uniforms to give and you can donate at the swap or deposit your gently used uniforms anytime in the office bin under the volunteer sign in book in the office.

Our first uniform swap will be September 2nd.
